About Us

Just A Small Notion came to life when I was in college working at a fabric store. Sewing essentials were called notions, and I decided to make button earrings. I decided to set up shop online when Etsy was still a burgeoning little site, and I wanted to be witty. So the name to match my thought (or my notion) and my mediums (buttons i.e. sewing notions) took shape. Just A Small Notion.

Fast forward 10+ years, I was in a whole different phase of life. No longer a college student, but a new mom when the world was turned upside down. Sewing wasn't as exciting as it once was, but I did enjoy lettering and painting signs. I slowly created when I had time, for birthday decorations or holiday tee shirts. Then, I became a stay at home mom, as well as a mama of now two rascals, and Just A Small Notion turned into more than just an Etsy shop!

As a young-ish mom with a smaller village of support, on the back side of a massive pandemic and a new location in South Florida (because yes, we moved during 2020 too!), I saw my shop for what it could become. A community.

With the support of my smart, kind husband and partner and two rambunctious kiddos, I am able to slowly expand Just A Small Notion through my products and my relationships.

The goal is to become community of advice and friendship. Support in life and in business. A call out to help each other with kind words and sassy--though not hurtful--comments. A home for a collective of everything I need to be Just Lindsey; health, laughter, love, and always joy.
